Androscoggin Land Trust - $5,000.00 In 2011 the organization will hire a youth outreach coordinator who will develop and implement new programs including GPS training for youth, snowshoeing activities along the Androscoggin River and Cross Country Skiing at Spruce Mountain. All of which the organization feels will generate a wider use of trails along the Androscoggin River. The funds will be used to start such programs.
The Nezinscot Guild - $5,000.00 Provides employment and work-related support to people with developmental disabilities, autism, mental illness and brain injuries. The money will go toward developing and marketing a new retail product that's designed and manufactured by employees with disabilities.
Auburn Community Band - $2,500.00 40-50 of the organizations members reside in 14-16 different communities in southern, central and coastal Maine, it plans to change its name this winter to one which better suits them. The announcement of this name change is planned for Spring, 2011. The requested funds will be used to (1) purchase advertising space in multiple print publications, (2) have a banner fashioned that will display the organization’s new name at all performances, and (3) obtain the services of a local advertising and promotions firm to assist us in formulating a wide-ranging marketing strategy.
Maine Youth Leadership - $2,500.00 Funds will be used to acquire donor and fundraising management software. In addition, we are seeking to automate the tracking and management of volunteers, documents and data for the organization.
United Society of Shakers - $2,500.00 Funds will be used to assist in meeting artists fees which include a violinist/violist, the Island Beats Steel Band and the Portland String Quartet.
Western Maine Mountain Alliance - $2,500.00 Funds will support a strategic planning process for the Board of Directors which will involve interviews with other economic and community development organizations serving the region, and with the organization’s constituents, members and donors.
Androscoggin River Watershed Council - $2,500.00 Works to improve the environment and promote healthy and prosperous communities in the watershed. The funds will support marketing efforts through upgrading and developing a Google Maps application for the group's website.
Friends of Merrymeeting Bay - $2,500.00 Works to protect and improve the ecosystems of the bay using research, advocacy, education and land protection. The funds will improve the capacity for community education and outreach and will bring the organization into compliance with a requirement of the Land Trust Alliance Standards and Practices.
Advocates for Children - $1,000.00 To purchase parenting education textbooks to accompany evidenced-based education programs including 1,2,3,4 Parents and 1,2,3 Magic. Currently the only costs passed on to parents with these trainings are fees for the textbooks.
Community Child Care - $1,000.00 Funds will be used to plant a garden for the children which will be used each year-one for vegetables and another for flowers and pumpkins. The goal is for the children to eat the vegetables raised to teach children that what we grow is consumable.
Friends of Kotzschmar Organ - $1,000.00 Funds will be used to supplement busing costs for schools to attend our Meet the King of Instruments youth concert for grades 3-6, May 17, 2011. In the past, Merrill Auditorium (1900 seats) has been filled for this event. Due to school budget cuts, field trips have been severely cut. By making monies available for busing, this grant could provide transportation funding for approximately 500 students.
Portland Ballet - $1,000.00 Funds will be used to support 2011 Arts in Education initiative: a Youth Concert Performance and Educational Outreach Program based on the children's book Around the World with Flat Stanley, the case of Flat Shoes. The money will allow the low ticket price of $4 and subsidize attendance for disadvantaged elementary school classes.
Sexual Assault Center of Mid Coast Maine - $1,000.00 Funds will be used to support Sexual Assault Support Center of Midcourt Maine (SASSMM) education programs which include 6,534 students offered to pre-k through college age, specialized trainings for 987 professionals such as those in law enforcement and health care, and non-school based community educational programs which reached 2,036 people and includes the Tea and Tips program that serves older adults and individuals with disabilities.
The Compassionate Friends – Lewiston Chapter - $1,000.00 Support to help provide literature to local hospitals and doctor's offices; proper training for the group leaders and establish a memorial garden where parents and families can visit and remember their children.
Brenda Marie Foundation - $1,000.00 To improve marketing, fundraising and technology in our company in a way to promote long-term sustainability in helping these families lives.
Norway Historical Society - $1,000.00 To fund the ongoing development of the history program with students of the Guy Rowe Elementary School.
Greater Franklin Development Council - $1,000.00 Promotes community and economic development. The money will be used to enhance economic development in the Jay-Livermore Falls area.
Lake Auburn Watershed Neighborhood Association - $1,000.00 Promotes responsible development and environmental outreach programs. The funds will go toward building a trail to link North Auburn and West Auburn villages with Lake Auburn.
Gray-New Gloucester Development Corporation - $1,000.00 Promotes economic development for the two towns. The donation will support corporate infrastructure, including the executive board's expansion and recruitment.
Oratorio Chorale - $1,000.00 The donation will support future performances.

Androscoggin Dance- $1,000 Funds will be used to pay for instructors who will provide additional training for intensive-level students.
LARK Society- $1,000 Funds will be used to pay the fee for the Portland String Quarter to present the 3 Session Chamber Music Course-A Guide to Chamber Music.
Midcoast Symphony Orchestra- $2,500 Each season (Oct-May) MSO performs 4 concerts at the Franco-American Heritage Center. Funds will be used to help defray operating costs of the series.
Catholic Charities of Maine- $2,500 Funds will help to improve or maintain the health and well-being of homebound seniors, and those with disabilities in Androscoggin County. Grant funds will be used to: Update and redesign marketing materials, provide banners, posters and display boards for volunteer recruitment and community resource fairs; Cover increased cost of screening additional volunteers (references, criminal and driving record checks); Recruit, screen, train and match volunteers with an elderly client.
Deertree Foundation- $2,500 Funds will be use to sustain arts & culture including student workshops, artist gallery showings and theatre festival.
Living with Peace- $2,500 Funds will be used to develop appropriate educational materials and host educational forums and long term training about key aspects of acculturation/assimilation/ integration of immigrants, particularly those from Africa, into American life with a focus in three areas: nutrition and physical activity, parenting and raising great children, and English language proficiency with a focus on composition and comprehension.
Independence Association- $5,000 Funds will be used to publish a book of poetry by the member artists. A collection of their work supports our mission to give voice to a marginalized population whose expressive voice is often overlooked. The previous poetry collection was published in 1995, making a 15 year gap which the organization is eager to fill.
