Please be wary of suspicious phone calls, texts, or e-mail messages claiming to be from the bank.  Criminals have clever ways to attempt to steal information from you by calling or sending messages that appear to be from the bank.  For example, scam artists may claim to be bank employees in order to try to trick you into replying and revealing confidential banking information.  These scammers may use a sense of urgency to pressure you into giving your account or card information. 

Example: A recent scam reported to us involved clients receiving a phone call from someone claiming to be from Androscoggin Bank’s Fraud Department.  The scammer then asked for confidential banking information from the client including account number, social security number, debit card number, and online banking credentials.  Do not fall for this scam.  Androscoggin Bank will NEVER contact you to ask for account numbers, card numbers, or other confidential banking and personal information.
